This feature would implement a grid system on the table, in which the cards could snap onto. Grids could be set as fractions of the total card size (such as 1/4 or 1/2).

This would allow the game definition to easily assign “zones” on the table (yes I’m coming back to that idea again, haha) in which scripts would apply to all cards within that zone.

It could also allow scripts to check whether or not a card is occupying a particular grid cell on the table.

Games with predefined zones would hugely benefit from this. For example, in a game like Yu-Gi-Oh, each card has a specific place within the monster and trap zones, and a maximum of five cards are allowed in these zones. Having the scripts be able to check for or select cards on the table based on their positions on the grid would open up many scripting possibilities.

Of course, the use of a grid system could be enabled or disables from within the game def itself.
